As a writer you should grab every opportunity to promotional products your self. We make websites, blogs, send out queries, have business cards, and the like, but what about the next step! What about doing something that will really catch an editors eye. Or make the publishers take notice. Get a potential customer to take notice. Look at your desk right now. If it is anything like mine there are a ton of pens laying on it. Look all around you and your will see others utilizing bumper stickers, t-shirts, key chains, and even mousepads. I am not suggesting you run out and rent a billboard, but you do have something that you can promote with and that is your writing!!
There are many inexpensive promotion opportunities out there that writers and home that have small budgets can use. Why not design a logo for yourself. An eyecatching logo can really make others remember you. Create bookmarks that you send out with your submissions. Design them yourself and keep the cost to a minimum. You can promote your business by creating a calendar. This is a great one because customers will be using it everyday. Maybe make them up smaller so they can carry them in their handbags. Mousepads are another smart and inexpensive way to get your name out there. Give them out to perspective customers or readers.
