He holds the record for the most runs scored in One-Day Internationals, and the most number of centuries scored in both One-day Internationals and Test cricket. He was the youngest player in India to make an international appearance at the age of 16.
He played his first match against Pakistan in 1989. Apart from his great batting skills he was also effective with slow bowling. He was award the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna in the year 1997 and the civilian award Padma Shri in 1999. Sir Donald Bradman, the Australian great said after seeing Sachin “He reminds me of myself”. He is also called as the Little Master and Master Blaster by his fans.
